Hawk's Heroic Tale

Before I start, I have to say on both my and Bob’s behalf, that we are so grateful for our family, friends, past and current students and parents of those students, community members, and even strangers who have reached out to us this week. We also have to thank the staff of Cleveland Clinic, our new home. We are in utter awe of all the people who care about us and most importantly who adopted Hawk as their own. Please know the hugs have been felt and the well wishes and prayers have been heard. As painful and devastating as this has been for us, our faith in human kindness has been restored. We are blown away by the number of calls, texts, and emails...

This is the first time reading your story about your sweet son. God bless you. As a momma of a 13 year old that is now on year 9 of sub-q igg. I will share with you. I was so scared too. But now it's a peice of cake! It's our weekly routine and we dont bat an eye. I promise it's not as scary as it seems. You doing it at home. Is sooo much easier for him. We have very minior side effects. Maybe some redness at the sites. (Easy treatable) with a dose of benadryl. This happens maybe 1 out of 8 treatments. Doing it iv is just awful for my daughter. Fever body aches just cries it takes her 3 days to feel good. (Although it lasts 6 weeks for her) We'll both take the hr of down time weekly). Also its portable she can walk run ect during treatment) She chooses to sit through. You got this momma! Your in my prayers!!

Hi Angela,

Thank you for taking the time to write and help a stranger. Your success story has helped ease my mind and heart as we embark on this next chapter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Just what I needed :)

I have a friend that works at Children’s. She’s in Oncology though. They are the best. You are in good hands. Sending prayers.

Lindsey, thank you. They were great, and we actually are still a part of the oncology group, so we may have met her. We will need to touch base when we go back.
